El estudio pertenece a una investigación de tipo descriptivo transversal y diseño no experimental, la población estuvo conformada por 200 estudiantes de la Universidad Científica del Perú que llevan la asignatura de matemática y la muestra por 33 estudiantes del I ciclo de Ingeniería Civil que llevan la asignatura de matemática. La técnica que se empleó en la recolección de datos fue: la encuesta y el instrumento fue: el cuestionario. Los resultados indican que los factores socioeconómicos, institucionales y psicopedagógicos a veces influyen en el rendimiento académico en matemática en los estudiantes del I ciclo de Ingeniería Civil de la Universidad Científica del Perú, 2018.
