Cabe señalar que la palabra ofimática muchas veces es confundida por otras palabras como informática, computación, sistemas u otros, y es ahí donde es necesario hacer la precisión de lo que estamos hablando y a que nos referimos al mencionar cada término, aunque se por analogía. Por ejemplo, si decimos computadora estaríamos hablando de computación; si decimos informática, seria hablar de información automática; si decimos ofimática seria hablar de oficina automática y así relativamente. El presente trabajo se centra resaltar lo que realmente significa la palabra ofimática y discriminarlo de la informática, ya que cada término tiene sus características y funciones propias, pero de alguna manera tienen una relación directa.
