An investigation was carried out with the intention of knowing the
relationship between knowledge about sexuality and attitudes towards it in
a group of nursing and psychology students from the aforementioned
private University of Iquitos.
For this, two groups of the Nursing and Psychology specialties of the
aforementioned University were used as a sample. Each group consisted
of 40 students selected by non-random criterial sampling given the
limitations of access to the University. To establish the relationship
between both variables, it was considered to use Pearson's productmoment
correlation, since previous statisticalanalyzes carried out regarding
the normality of the data distribution determined that parametric methods
should be used for correlation. Additionally, to compare the specific
hypotheses, we used to Student's "t" Ratio in order to compare the
averages in sexual knowledge and attitudes about sexuality, both in the
Nursing sample and in the Psychology sample. The study was, therefore,
a descriptive study of the correlation and comparative type. The study
design was non- experimental, quantitative and cross-sectional. The tests
that were used were duly validated and reliable before their application.
Regarding the main hypothesis, it was found that there was a positive and
significant relationship between knowledgeabout aspects of sexuality and
attitudes towards Sexuality, it was a positive and significant correlation.
The comparisons in knowledge related to sexuality showedthat at the level
of the group of psychologists and nursing students, the nursing students
presented more extensive knowledge regarding sexual knowledge than
the group of psychologists. Inversely in the comparison regarding attitudes
towards sexuality, it was the psychologists who presented more positive
attitudes towards sexuality than the nursing group. The conclusions of the
case were established and the respective recommendations were
formulated.
