Las vacunas constituyen una de las medidas sanitarias que mayor beneficio
ha producido y sigue produciendo a la humanidad, previenen
enfermedades que antes causaban grandes epidemias, muertes y
secuelas. Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento
sobre vacunas que tienen las madres y el cumplimiento del calendario de
vacunación en los niños menores 18 meses atendidos en una IPRESS de
Iquitos. La muestra estuvo conformada por 71 madres. Material y métodos:
Se aplicó un cuestionario de conocimiento sobre vacunas y una ficha de
cotejo sobre el cumplimiento del calendario de vacunación (carnet de
vacunación) con validez de 99% de concordancia y confiabilidad de
0.752%. Resultados: De las 23 madres que cumplieron con el calendario
de vacunación, 17(73,9%) tuvieron entre 21 a 34 años, 82,6% convivientes,
82,6% nivel secundario. (52,2%) amas de casa, (39,1%) dos hijos, (69,6%)
no trabaja. Al relacionar con el cumplimiento del calendario de vacunación:
Edad de la madre p=0,976, estado civil p=0,640, grado de instrucción
p=0,268, ocupación p=0,055, número de hijos p=0,934, ingresos
económicos p=0,206. No existe relación estadística significativa entre
ninguna de las características de las madres (p > 0,05) y el cumplimiento
del calendario de vacunación en madres con niños menores de 18 meses.
80,3% de las madres obtuvieron conocimiento de nivel medio,16,9%
conocimiento alto. 67.6% no cumple el calendario de vacunación se
concluyó que existe relación estadística significativa entre el nivel de
conocimiento y el Cumplimiento del calendario de vacunación (p=0,015)
