Aspectos sociodemográficos y clínicos de la malaria gestacional en los hospitales de la ciudad de Iquitos enero 2003 a diciembre 2007

Abstract
Introducción: Malaria gestacional es la presencia de Plasmodium en sangre periférica materna y/o hallazgo del parásito en placenta; la gestación aumenta la susceptibilidad al plasmodium, provocando efectos adversos en madre y niño. Objetivo: Determinar aspectos socio demográficos y clínicos de Malaria Gestacional atendidos en los Hospitales Regional de Loreto y Apoyo lquitos entre enero del 2003 a diciembre del 2007. Metodología: Diseño descriptivo transversal, prospectivo, analítico.
Fueron evaluadas 96 pacientes con malaria gestacional. La unidad de análisis fueron las historias clínicas de hospitalización y Perinatales. Resultados: Los casos de malaria gestacional proceden de la zona urbano marginal (49%) y con I a 2 partos (62.5%), Plasmodium vivax el 54.2% de los casos. La complicación materna más frecuente fue anemia severa (40.6%); la complicación fetal más frecuente fue: RNBP (9.4%). Las complicaciones maternas se relacionan con edad materna (p = 0.025), con procedencia rural (p = 0.002), edad gestacional (p = 0.001), antecedente de malaria (p = 0.000), tiempo de enfermedad > 7 días (p = 0.023), infección por P. falciparum (p = 0.029), y carga parasitaria (p = 0.000). Las complicaciones fetales se relacionan con la edad materna (p = 0.046), con la procedencia rural (p = 0.028), el tiempo de enfermedad > 7 días (p = 0.04), infección por P. falciparum (p = 0.00 l) y a la carga parasitaria (p = 0.000).
Gestational Malaria is the presence of Plasmodium in peripheral blood and / or finding the parasite in placenta; pregnancy increascs the susceptibility to Plasmodium, causing adverse effccts on mother and child.
