Abstract
The present research work: "Heat waves and their impact on the health of population of Maynas province, 2009 - 2019" carried out in Maynas province Maynas, Loreto department for the period 2009 - 2019, the information of Acute Diarrheal Diseases (EDA'S) cases from MINSA and information on maximum temperature from SENAMHI, 138 heat waves was determined, being the year with highest number of events in 2016. The maximum intensity of heat wave was 38.2 °C, occurred in 2013, in the southern of Iquitos city. The number of days per year with temperatures above the 95th percentile of maximum temperatures was 77, occurred in 2011 and 2012. No heat strokes were recorded in the area (temperatures above 40 °C). The months of occurrence of heat waves were from August to October. The cases of EDA´s in period totaled 558,782, with 2012 being the year in which the highest number of cases was registered with 90,998. The investigation found that “there is not” a direct relationship between heat waves and the cases of ADD registered in the province of Maynas was verified. with r2= 0.16 association.
