Abstract
Antecedentes: La fiebre es uno de los principales motivos de consulta pediátrica en emergencia; siendo una preocupación para los padres de familia, ya que sospechan un problema infeccioso y hacen uso de antibióticos sin recomendaciones médicas.
Objetivo: Determinar el conocimiento y prácticas sobre fiebre en madres de niños menores de 5 años en San Juan Bautista - 2019.
Material y Métodos: diseño descriptivo, transversal; la muestra estuvo conformada por 167 madres de niños menores de 5 años. Se aplicó un cuestionario sobre conocimiento y prácticas sobre fiebre; validado y configurado de estudios similares.
Resultados: El 61.7% de madres tienen entre 20 a 34 años, el 54.5% son convivientes, y el 63.5% con educación de secundaria.
El 45.5% tienen conocimiento adecuado sobre fiebre; asociándose a mayor edad de la madre (p=0.020) y mayor grado de instrucción (p=0.005).
El 58.7% con prácticas adecuadas sobre fiebre, asociándose a mayor de edad de la madre (p=0.006), con el estado civil (p=0.004) y mayor grado de instrucción (p=0.019).
El conocimiento adecuado se relacionó significativamente (p=0.001) con adecuadas prácticas sobre fiebre.
Conclusión: Las madres presentan un inadecuado conocimiento sobre la fiebre, pero una adecuada practicas sobre la fiebre.
Background: fever is one of the main reasons for pediatric emergency visits; it is being a concern for parents, since they suspect an infectious problem and they make use of antibiotics without medical recommendations. Objective: To determine the knowledge and practices about fever in mothers of children under 5 San Juan Bautista-2019. Material and Methods: descriptive, cross-sectional design; the sample consisted of 167 mothers of children under 5 years. A questionnaire about knowledge and practices on fever was applied; validated and configured from similar studies.
