Abstract
The objective of the study is to evaluate the knowledge and practices of mothers regarding exclusive breastfeeding in children under 6 months of age in the Bellavista Nanay, Moronacocha, Iquitos IPRESS, year 2024. The design was descriptive, observational, correlational, cross-sectional and prospective. The sample consisted of 152 mothers. The techniques used included survey and observation, using a questionnaire and an observation form as instruments. The validity of the instrument reached an index of 0.9500, which indicated excellent validity, while the reliability was 0.806 for the first instrument and 0.813 for the second. The results reveal that 59.8% of mothers have medium knowledge, that is, approximately 6 out of 10. 27.0% have low knowledge. Regarding practices, it is observed that 80.9% of mothers carry out the correct practices, while 19.1% carry out incorrect practices, which means that 2 out of 10 mothers do not adequately apply the exclusive breastfeeding guidelines. When applying the chi-square test, a p value of 0.023 was found, which suggests a statistically significant relationship between the level of knowledge and exclusive breastfeeding practices in this group of mothers.
