Abstract
usaron paquete globular, 134 (7.34 %) plasma fresco congelado y 86 (4.71 %)
plaquetas.
Gineco-Obstetricia (22.9 %) y Medicina (20.49 %)
Transfusion medicine continues to be essential to save human lives, however there are criteria and standards that must be taken into account for the proper use of blood components, both to take care of the health of patients as well as to maintain the availability of blood components with an adequate supply according to the demand of each hospital institution. For this reason, it is important to know the demand and distribution of blood components in each hospital in order to take measures and develop strategies to maintain a sufficient stock that is capable of meeting the necessary requirements in view of the demand for them. The purpose of this work is to know the demand for blood components in the Regional Hospital of Loreto from January to July 2021, as well as the distribution of use according to age, sex, most frequent pathologies and requesting services. Methods: A retrospective, descriptive, quantitative study was developed; in order to know what is the demand for blood components in the Regional Hospital of Loreto from January to July 2021 Results: It was found that the demand for blood components in the study period was 1,825 patients, of whom 1,605 (87.95%) used a globular package, 134 (7.34%) fresh frozen plasma, and 86 (4.71%) platelets. 58.96% of blood components were used in women and 41.04% in men. The ages of the men with the highest use of blood components was 40-59 years old (47.4%) and in women it was 18-39 years old (42.84%). The pathologies with the highest requirement for blood components were anemia (35.45%) and cancer (24.93%). And the services with the highest request for blood components were Emergency (48.82%), Gynecology-Obstetrics (22.9%) and Medicine (20.49%).
