Abstract
In our research, the different types of failures and their severity levels were identified and characterized. With the main objective of carrying out the superficial evaluation of the flexible pavement of the Lamas road - crossing with the Fernando Belaunde Terry road, of the Lamas Province, in the San Martín Region in the section identified by the Ministry of Transport and Communications as EMP road. SM-104 Lamas, in order to establish the service condition of the flexible pavement. Using the recognized Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method, for evaluate the structural and surface condition, being its qualitative and quantitative qualification and based on the In Situ observation of the pavement, the same that is adopted as a standardized procedure by ASTM D 6433 and used as a method of evaluating the state of a pavement and the degree of Operationality. Arriving at the results, by means of the superficial evaluation of the pavement it has been determined that between the progressive 0 + 000 to 0 + 500 KM and 0 + 7500 to 0 + 8000 it presents a good state with a PCI of 65.10 and 60.09, 0 + 500 to 4 + 000 KM and 5 + 000 to 7 + 500 KM presents a regular state with a PCI of 45.26, 53.02, 49.89, 43.87, 47.51, 41.89, 49.44, 53.79, 51.17, 49.89, 47.91, 48.74 and for Lastly, the progressives 4 + 000 to 4 + 500 KM and 4 + 500 to 5 + 000 KM present a bad state with a PCI of 36.29 and 35.95. Concluding that by indirectly quantifying the structural integrity with an ICP value of 48.74, placing itself in a Regular state, where the service conditions can present problems for high traffic speeds, due to the fact that the failures cause vibrations to the vehicles that they affect significantly and require a speed reduction for better comfort and safety for users.
