Abstract
The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between mass media and the revitalization of the Kukama-Kukamiria language in the province of Loreto-Nauta, 2025. A quantitative approach with a non-experimental, correlational design was applied, using a Likert-scale questionnaire administered to a sample of 47 young participants from the FORMABIAP program. The results show that mass media have a predominantly regular and low valuation regarding the use of the Kukama-Kukamiria language, while linguistic revitalization is largely perceived as low. Inferential analysis revealed a significant association between both variables (Chi-square, p < 0.001), but a weak and negative correlation (rho = –0.297; p = .043), indicating that mass media do not effectively contribute to the revitalization process. It is concluded that the Kukama-Kukamiria language is in a critical situation and that current media strategies are insufficient to strengthen its use and intergenerational transmission.
