Abstract
The purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between communication and the rescue of cultural identity of the Kukama ethnic group in 2023. A quantitative, correlational, non-experimental, and cross-sectional design was applied, using surveys administered to a sample of 47 inhabitants. The findings revealed that communication is mostly perceived at a medium level (78.7%), with significant deficiencies in the community dimension (80.9% at a low level). Regarding cultural identity rescue, most respondents also reported a medium level (68.1%), with weaknesses in the preservation of traditions (40.4% at a low level). Inferential analysis showed a moderate and significant positive correlation (rho = 0.439; p = 0.002) between both variables, confirming that communication contributes to cultural strengthening, although its impact remains limited due to a lack of resources and sustained strategies. It is concluded that reinforcing community communication, intercultural bilingual education, and cultural dissemination is essential to revitalize Kukama identity.
