Abstract
descriptivo, observacional, prospectivo-correlacional y transversal;
This study used a quantitative methodology, descriptive, observational, prospective-correlational, and cross-sectional design. The objective was to determine the oral hygiene index and oral health knowledge among pregnant women treated at the Moronacocha-Iquitos 2024 IPRESS. The results of this research were that the majority of pregnant women had secondary education, were in the third trimester of pregnancy and were 20 to 29 years old. 70.5% had a poor OHI, 55.2% had low oral health knowledge. Poor oral hygiene prevailed in secondary school (71.2%), second trimester (75.3%) and in the age group 30 to 40 years (78.9%). Low oral health knowledge predominated (n: 117-53.5%), in the second trimester of pregnancy (65.8%); and in those 30 to 40 years old (61.9%). Pregnant women with acceptable oral hygiene (69.2%) had low knowledge, and those with poor oral hygiene (49.7%) showed low knowledge. Likewise, if knowledge is lower, oral hygiene will be poor. YES, there is a relationship between the oral hygiene index and the level of knowledge of pregnant women aged 15 to 40. It is concluded that, when determining the oral hygiene index and oral health knowledge of pregnant women treated at the IPRESS in Moronacocha, Iquitos, in 2024, the majority of pregnant women had poor oral hygiene and low oral health knowledge.
