Abstract
The main objective of this thesis is to determine the relationship between the skills profile and the employability of graduates of the UCP Tourism and Hotel Management course in the city of Iquitos during the period 2019-2023. To achieve this purpose, the following specific objectives were set out: (a) to identify the competency profile of graduates, and (b) to identify their level of employability. The study was developed under a quantitative approach, using a non-experimental correlational design. The sample consisted of 67 graduates. Data collection was carried out through surveys that assessed both the competency profile and the employability of the graduates. The data were analysed using Spearman's correlation coefficient. The results showed a strong and significant positive correlation (r = 0.847, p = 0.001) between the competence profile and the employability of the graduates. This indicates that graduates with a better skills profile tend to have greater employment opportunities. Furthermore, it was found that a considerable percentage of graduates have low and medium levels of competences (40.3% and 38.8%, respectively), which is reflected in a mostly medium (55.2%) and low (31.3%) employability. In conclusion, the research confirms that there is a direct and significant relationship between the competency profile and the employability of graduates of the Tourism and Hotel Management course in Iquitos, which underlines the need to strengthen the academic curriculum and practical experiences in order to improve employment opportunities for graduates.
