Abstract

El propósito de la investigación fue establecer la relación entre la caries dental y la higiene bucal en alumnos con habilidades especiales del CEBE Iquitos; JulioDiciembre, 2024; se llevó a cabo una metodología cuantitativa, con un diseño descriptivo, no experimental, caracterizado por un enfoque observacional, correlacional, prospectivo y correspondiente a cohorte transversal; muestra 110 alumnos de 03 a 21 años. Resultados: El índice Ceod, la mayoría presentó un 57,2% de riesgo cariogénico moderado; prevaleció el sexo femenino (65,5%), igualmente el índice CPOD con un 46,1%, sobresaliendo el sexo masculino (47,8%). El índice de higiene oral fue considerado como malo (65,5%), el sexo femenino tiene mayor primacía (68,2%). En la relación del índice Ceod y el índice de higiene oral, se percibe que los niños con IHOS regular, presentaron un Ceod bajo (36,4%) y moderado (63,6%). En el IHOS regular predominó un CPOD moderado (57,1%) y en el IHOS malo un CPOD bajo y moderado (42,1%). Se concluye que, en los índices Ceod/CPOD hubo un riesgo moderado. Al Identificar el índice de higiene oral predominó el IHOS malo, seguido del regular. Se evidencia una relación estadísticamente significativa entre Ceod con IHOS. Es decir, a medida que la higiene oral va de regular a malo, también lo hace el índice Ceod de muy bajo a moderado. Observándose lo contrario, entre CPOD con IHOS, que NO se encontró relación estadística significativa.

The objective of the research was to determine the relationship between dental caries and oral hygiene in students with special abilities at CEBE Iquitos, from July to December 2024. A quantitative methodology was used, with a descriptive, non-experimental design characterized by an observational, correlational, and prospective approach, corresponding to a cross-sectional cohort. The sample consisted of 110 students aged between 3 and 21 years. Results: The Ceod index, the majority presented 57.2% of moderate cariogenic risk; the female sex prevailed (65.5%), as did the CPOD index with 46.1%, with the male sex standing out (47.8%). The oral hygiene index was considered poor (65.5%), with the female sex having a higher prevalence (68.2%). In the the relationship between the Ceod index and the oral hygiene index, it was observed that the children with a regular IHOS regular, presented a low (36.4%) and moderate (63.6%) Ceod. In the moderate CPOD predominated in the regular IHOS (57.1%) and in the poor IHOS, low and moderate CPOD (42.1%). and moderate (42.1%). It is concluded that in the Ceod/CPOD indexes there was a moderate risk. When identifying the oral hygiene index, bad OHSI predominated, followed by fair OHSI. There was a statistically significant relationship between Ceod and IHOS. That is, as oral hygiene goes from fair to poor, so does the Ceod index from very low to moderate. The opposite was observed between CPOD and IHOS, where NO statistically significant relationship was found.
