Abstract
The objective of this study was to establish the relationship between knowledge and preventive practices of iron deficiency anemia in mothers with children aged 6 to 24 months who attend IPRESS I – 3 Villa Belén, Belén 2024. Considered non-experimental quantitative type, the study used survey research methods with descriptive, correlational and longitudinal designs. The sample consisted of 144 mothers with children aged 6 to 24 months. The technique was the survey, the instrument was the questionnaire with a validity of 0.912, the reliability was estimated with Cronbach's Alpha which reported 0.845, a reliable result. Results: Their level of knowledge about iron deficiency anemia is positively correlated with the preventive measures adopted by the mothers of their subjects. As the level of knowledge increases, mothers present 35% of adequate preventive practices; There is a 37.5% of respondents whose actions are considered inadequate, which underlines the need to focus re-education on those who are at the lower or medium levels of knowledge. The Chi Square Test (X²=28.4, p=0.0001 and p=0.0002) provided statistically significant results that support the existence of an association between the two variables
