Abstract
The study aimed to determine the relationship between breastfeeding attitudes and practices among adolescent mothers with children under 2 years of age in a public health facility, Belén 2024. A quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive, correlational, and prospective design was used. The sample consisted of 93 adolescent mothers who attended the IPRESS 9 de Octubre clinic during the month of October. Data collection was carried out using a survey and a questionnaire, after the mothers signed an informed consent form. The instrument achieved a validity of 0.817 and a reliability score of 0.817 using Cronbach's alpha, indicating good consistency. The results showed that 39.8% of mothers had a favorable attitude and good practices, 57.0% had a favorable attitude, and 46.2% demonstrated adequate practices. Despite this, some mothers still displayed indifferent or unfavorable attitudes and average or poor practices. The relationship between attitudes and practices was statistically significant (p < 0.05), confirming that positive attitudes directly influence better breastfeeding practices. The study concludes that it is necessary to strengthen educational interventions that promote a favorable attitude toward breastfeeding, especially among adolescent mothers, as this is a vulnerable population.
