Abstract
The objective is to determine the amount of knowledge and attitudes of adolescents from two educational institutions regarding first aid in the year 2024. The sample consisted of 250 students. This had a descriptive observational correlational approach and a cross-sectional and prospective design. Surveys and attitude scales were used with a questionnaire and Likert scale that present a validity coefficient of 0.85 and a reliability coefficient of 0.87. From the first institution, 20% of the students had a high level of knowledge and positive attitudes, while 4% had negative attitudes. At the regular level, 12% had positive attitudes and behavior, compared to 6% who had negative ones. At the low level, the distribution of both negative and positive attitudes was 6%. From the second institution, 12% of the students with a high level of knowledge had positive attitudes and 4% negative ones. At the regular level, 8% had positive attitudes and 4% negative ones. At the low level, 8% had positive attitudes, while 10% had negative attitudes. It is confirmed that, with greater knowledge, the levels of attitude are more positive. The opposite is not consistent at low levels of knowledge. A p value of 0.002 was obtained, which indicates a statistical association between the variables.
